Visitor privacy
We count public page views, record selections, and state selections to understand how the memorial is used. These counts are visible only in the owner’s private Command Center.
A random visit identifier is kept in your browser tab’s session storage. It expires after 30 minutes of inactivity. It does not identify you by name or follow you across websites. We do not use analytics cookies.
Our analytics records contain the visit identifier, event type, public page or selection, and time. We do not store your IP address, email, location, search text, or referring URL in these analytics records. Hosting services may maintain their own operational logs.
We honor browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Signed-in owner visits and recognizable automated browsers are excluded. Blockers and browser settings can affect counts.
Usage events older than 90 days are removed when new events are processed and excluded from the dashboard. Visits are sessions, not a count of individual people.
Information you submit through “Submit a name” is separate from analytics and remains in the private review inbox until reviewed. Private contact details and review notes are not included in public memorial records.
Organization inquiries are stored separately in the founder’s private inbox. The organization, contact name, email, inquiry topic, and message are used to review and respond to the inquiry. They are not displayed publicly or added to visitor analytics.
Leaving a flower saves a random identifier for that memorial in your browser’s local storage and in our database. It helps limit repeat flowers from the same browser. No name, email, or IP address is stored with a flower. Only the total is public. Clearing browser storage or using another browser allows another flower; these totals are gestures of remembrance, not verified counts of people. A personal flower from Shay is included for each founding memorial and explicitly labeled as the founder’s tribute, separately from visitor contributions. Flower identifiers are separate from visitor analytics and are retained to preserve remembrance totals.
